Call to Order:

 

 

Roxann Smith called the meeting to ord= er at 7:08 at the Lac La Belle Fire hall with approximately 17 members prese= nt.

 

Role Call of Officers:=

 

 

Roll call was made by Roxann.  President, Vice President, Treasu= rer, and Secretary were present.

 

Approve Agenda:

 

 

Roxann asked for a motion to approve t= he June meeting agenda.

 

Motion by Guy Snyder t= o approve agenda.  Second by Tom Stroh= l.  All were in favor.  Motion carried.

 

Approve Prior Months Minutes:

 

 

Roxann stated that because the secreta= ry was not present at the May 2008 meeting the minutes were not taken and wo= uld be provided at a later date.  Roxann also noted that minutes will be taken at the officer’s meetings.

President’s Rema= rks and Correspondence:

 

 

Roxann remarked that a bed frame was dumped into the dumpster a few weeks ago.  She requested residents to please= wait for the Spring Clean Up to dump your items.  Roxann also noted the dumpster was swapped out on Friday and replaced with one that stinks more than the one= it replaced.  She had the dumps= ter replaced.

Township meeting was held on Tuesday a= nd she gave a quick recap of the meeting.&n= bsp; Roxann had a copy of the May 2008 minutes of the Township meeting = for review.

 =

Reports:

 

Treasurer:  Jim Sorensen reviewed the Treasurer’s Report.  The balance in the account is $2,733.71.  A copy is availa= ble if requested.

 

Motion by Mary Strohl = to approve Treasurer’s Report.  Second by Betty Snyder.  All were in favor.  M= otion carried.

 


Unfinished Business:

 

Pavilion:   A sign will be erected on the Haven Park Pavilion.  Roxann will discuss with Kate La= ngdon.  Ned also noted that a memorial s= tone was donated and will be put at the falls.  Rheta has information from the <= st1:place w:st=3D"on">Campbell’s= on the history of the area and will check into a price on a sign.  The Historical Society might help= with the cost of the sign.  A com= mittee was formed to review contents.  Ned Huwatschek, Mary Strohl, and Rheta Wolfe will meet on this and report bac= k.

 

 

Spring Clean Up:  The bulletin board has a list of = things that can and can not be put into the dumpsters during the clean up.  Also listed are the dates of clea= n up.  Steel, batteries, tires and white goods will also be collected.

 

 

Junk Car Issue:  Jim Sorenson discussed this problem and went into detail about his visit to t= he Zoning Equalization Office.  He spoke to Joan Nelson.  Jim r= ead the letter and showed photo’s regarding this problem.  The enforcement of this problem = was then discussed further.  Jim= will get back to us with any other information regarding this subject.

 

 

Mail Delivery:  Dante Iacovoni, G= ale Slates, and Rheta Wolfe are gathering signatures. Report to be made at the next meeting.

 

 

Financial Budget Review:  Don Frantti, Jack Haataja, and Ned Huwatschek met with Jim Sorensen to review the 2008 budget.

 

Motion by Don Frantti = to approve 2008 budget.  Second= by Gordon Kytta.  All were in favor.  Motion carried.

 

 

Summer Fest:  Roxann asked for someone to head up the committee.  Tom Strohl volunteered.  Bob & Marge Meyers, Rheta Wo= lfe, Ned Huwatschek, and Stella Mottonen offered to help.  A meeting will be held and Tom wi= ll report back at the July SSA meeting.

 

Motion by Tom Strohl t= o hold Summer Fest on August 3rd.&nb= sp;  Second by Betty Snyd= er.  All were in favor.  Motion carried.

 

Elections:<= /span>

 

Elections will be held at the July meeting.  Guy Snyder nominat= ed Roxann for President and Cathy Westcott for Secretary.  Roxann accepted the nomination a= nd Cathy respectfully declined.  Roxa= nn asked if Betty Snyder or Stella Mottonen would like to run for Secretary.  Both Betty and Stella declined. <= span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'> At this time the position will be= kept open and the other officers will fill in until a Secretary can be found. =  

 

Motion by Guy Snyder to leave same officers in office.   Second by Don Frantti.  All were in favor.  Motion carried.

 


New Business:

 

DNR Dock:  Bob Meyers will be contacting the DNR regarding the repair of the DNR dock.  Ric= k Olson will ask the Township about any possible involvement.  Roxann will try to get someone at= the Township Board to write a letter to Mike Lahiti.  Everyone will report back at the = next meeting.

 

 

Newsletter:  We need to have a committee to do the newsletters this year.  Rheta volunteered to = head up the committee with help from others.  Stella Mottonen, Betty Snyder, Ma= ry Strohl, Marge Meyers, and Roxann Smith offered to help.  They will meet and report back.<= o:p>

 

 

Membership cards:  Rheta discussed the idea of eliminating membership ca= rds.  SSA agreed.

 

Community Center:

 

Roxann spoke about the possibility of doing a survey to canvas the area to find out the response of the people = in the area.  It was decided th= at a survey might be premature at this time.&= nbsp; We need to get further information on costs, plans, grant funds, a= nd interest in this project.  R= heta will collect some more information and have the information for review at= the Summer Fest.  Rick Olson exp= ressed his concerns for security, heating systems, and roof lines on the building plans.  The fire department = would also like to add a new bay to the building and this also has to be taken = in consideration.

 

Public Comments:<= /o:p>

 

Mary Strohl asked for more information= on defibrillators.  Rick Olson gave us a short explanation.  He indicated t= hat the defibrillator is stored on the fire truck.  It would be a benefit to all in t= his area for both Rick and Gary to have a defibrillator.  Roxann and Rick to look into cost= s and how to raise some funds to provide them.
